While creating a business name may seem like a difficult task, it really should not be if you setup the guidelines for creating a business name first. If you follow this quick outline that I made you, it can help you create some wonderful business names and ideas.

First, think about what your business is about? What are you selling your customers? What do you want them to know about your business? Are there specific characteristics about your business that should stand out more than others? Do you want a unique business name or one that is simple and to the point? Who are your customers? Are they men or women? What is their age range? What would be appealing to that gender and age group? What do you offer that your competitors don't? Why did you get in to business? Is it a family business? Is your business designed to save people money or to offer something that no other business has?

Answering these questions will help to simplify your business and let you understand what your business really entails. After you answer the questions, think of some keywords that incorporate your business ideas. Try to group some of the words together. If you get stuck on using the same words over, try using a thesaurus to help you come up with some new words and ideas: http://thesaurus.reference.com. At the end of the blog I am going to give you an example of the strategy I followed when trying to help a friend come up with a business name.

When you have a list compiled, ask some friends and family what they think of the names and what kind of business the name represents to see if you really focused on the meaning of your business. This can definitely be a daunting task, but don't stress about it. Take some time to think about it and do some research. If you get too caught up and frustrated, take some time and do something else and come back to it later. Business names are not created over night and you should really take some time to think about it because you want it to be perfect. If you still need help, don't hesitate to contact us through our free consultation section, we would be more than willing to help you create some business ideas for free.

Example of how I helped a friend come up with her business name:
My friend was opening a shop that sells bouquets, arrangements and baskets using artificial flowers. Her theme was to sell realistic looking flowers that when you touch them or look at them, they feel and look real. The purpose was to design these amazing looking flowers because she was sick of buying real flowers that would die within a few days. She was targeting her business towards women of all ages, mostly women that wanted to decorate their home or workplace nicely without spending a fortune and by offering them an alternative to flowers that always die. This is how we came up with some ideas. We thought of keywords that represented her business and idea and here is what we came up with:

Beauty, Elegance, Lasting, Appealing, Delicate, Allure, Blooming
Flowers, Gardens, Bouquets, Arrangements

The final name: Everlasting Gardens- Where beauty lives forever.
We chose this name because it represented her business well. Everlasting because the flowers will last forever and gardens because flowers grow in gardens and can be used to make decorative arrangements, bouquets and basically everything she designs for her business. The purpose of her business is to create beautiful pieces that last forever and won't die which is why the "where beauty lives forever" slogan was incorporated.

Final thought, be creative and spend your time doing it. Don't throw it together. Incorporate your business ideas and good themes. Get some help from other business professionals or friends and family.

If you are a new business owner or you're not familiar with online advertising, I am going to offer you some solutions to get free advertising for your business. Why should you pay for it when you can get it for free, right?

First, let me note that just because you are advertising for free and getting traffic to your website, does not necessarily mean that you will actually make any sales from it. The content and products on your website must be professional and clear in order for you to even gain prospect customers. Make sure your home page is designed well and that you SELL the products to your customers before you even plan on advertising.

Top ways to get free advertising:

1) Blogs- Writing a blog and submitting it to search engines can increase you traffic immensely. Make sure your blog posts are informative and keyword rich and your blog subscribers will get larger and increase your business traffic before you know it. Try blogger.com.

2) Classifieds- There are 100's of classified ad sites on the web and they are generally all free. Find some classified websites (try craigslist.org) and post a really good and catchy classified ad with pictures and your contact information or website.

3). Articles- If you have experience that other people are seeking, then write some really good articles and submit them to websites. You can include the copyrights of your business website in the article so people can find your website. You should not completely advertise your business in the article, only list your business information at the end of the article. Make sure the article is informative and something that people will want to read.

4). Yellow Pages- If you have a website or even a business location, you can get free advertising through the yellow pages online. There are several different websites (try yellowpages.com) of online yellow pages that will let you list your business information for free. This is especially great for local businesses looking to get more traffic.

5). Word of mouth- One of the best ways people can find your business is through word of mouth. People are more inclined to listen to friends and colleagues about a business rather than finding an advertisement and buying from you. People trust their friend's opinions and if they refer your business to someone else, you have more of a chance to get a new customer and make a sale.

6) SEO- Search engine optimization is great for getting web traffic for free but it can be tricky if you don't know what you are doing. Your website needs to be optimized properly in order to get listed in search engines for free. Once your website is fully optimized, you will need to submit your website to search engines. It can sometimes take up to 3 months for your website to be indexed but that's okay because when it finally is, you will have free traffic coming your way. If you need help with SEO or submitting to search engines try: http://exceptional-business-solutions.com/Advertising.aspx

7) Social networking- This is one of the biggest internet phenomenoms and businesses are taking advantage of it like crazy. Make your business presence known on the internet by opening a page for your business and adding some new friends. Making conversation and communicate with them in order to build some rapport. Try facebook.com, twitter.com or myspace.com.

Getting traffic to your website is just as important as making a sale. The more traffic your website gets, the higher it will rank in popularity among search engines and the more your site will be displayed. Remember that you should have a nice and clean website and good content and Voila, free and instant traffic!

Starting a new business can be difficult, especially when you don't have the knowledge or resources you need to obtain information that can help you start your business legally. Many new businesses starting out online have questions about what legal steps they need to take to open a business.

This topic is so popular among new business owners so I wanted to give you a quick step by step guide to opening a business online legally. It really is not hard to do and it only takes a few minutes of your time to actually complete the process.

First you should know that every single state has different laws about businesses so you should always check with your specific states laws (I'll give you a link to check out this information).

The most common things that need to be done when starting a business are:

1). Registering a business name (also know as a fictitious business name)
2). Registering for a resale license (also know as a sales tax license)

While registering a business name does not actually take a lot of time, coming up with a good business name is important. Make sure the business name is a name you feel really good about before registering it, because this is the business name you will use on your website. Not all states require you to register a business name but if your state does, than it is mandatory that you register your business name with them.
Check out this website to find out more information about your state laws and how to register a business name.

A sales tax permit is another thing that you will need to apply for. The sales tax permit is used for the purpose of collecting sales tax from customers in your state. You usually have to file sales tax every 3 months, but it is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Additionally, many wholesalers require you to have this permit/license when purchasing products from them because they want to make sure you are a legitimate business and not a retail customer trying to get discount products.
Check out this website to get more information about sales tax laws for your state and how to get registered.

It is very important that you follow all of your state requirements for opening a business because you can get fined and get in trouble if you do not.

I frequently visit business chat rooms and forums in search of helping people achieve their goals of starting a business. I offer advice to upcoming businesses or people who have questions about opening a business and there is a common question that is usually asked at least 100 times a day. Are you wondering what the question is? Believe it or not, the question is the most simple question to ask, yet the most complicated question to answer. The question is: "What kind of business should I open?" It may sound like a simple answer but here's why it isn't!

I want to first make a suggestion to everyone that asks this question. When you are asking this question, have some kind of idea about business and give a general idea or consensus on what type of business you are looking to get into. Is it an e-commerce business where you offer products or is it a business where you offer services? What kind of hobbies and interests do you have that can be related to opening a business? Every single person is different, which includes their likes and dislikes and how much time and money they have to invest in their business, therefore it would be nearly impossible to answer this generic question without some more information.

If you don't have an idea about starting a business then you probably aren't ready to open a business. A business takes a lot of time and a considerable amount of money, in addition to ideas and creativity to differentiate your business from your competitors. Be sure to give more details that can help a business professional answer your question accurately.

If you need help coming up with an idea for starting a business, here are some questions that you shoulder answer to get an idea as to what type of business would suit you well.

1). What are your hobbies and interests? This is important because you want a business that you will enjoy which will help you be able to sell your business better when talking to potential customers.

2). Do you have any special skills or training? If so, is there a way you can turn this into a business?

3). How much money do you have to invest? Are you going to purchase inventory and if so, is your investment amount going to cover your initial business costs?

4). What kind of people do you want to sell to? Do you want to sell products targeted a teenage girls or perhaps men who are sports enthusiasts? What kind of products would fit well with this group of people? How and where would you advertise to this particular group?

5). What is the popular trend right now? How many businesses are offering this product or service? Can you find this product at a good enough price to make profit and still sell it competitively?

Tip: Do research before you invest any money into a business. Although it may look like you are getting a good deal, you might be getting damaged goods (figuratively). Basically meaning, just because you get a product at an amazing price, it does not mean you will be able to sell the product. If there are 500 other stores selling the same product for less or no one is interested in buying that product, you just lost a lot of money. First & foremost, research the market before starting a business to see what kind of competition you will have and if you can offer something different to your customers. That is the best advice anyone could give a potentially new business owner, do your research!
